The Laboratory's Technology Transfer Division helps move technologies from the Lab to the
marketplace to benefit society and the U.S. economy. This is done by ensuring that Laboratory
inventions receive intellectual property protection, which enables the Lab to license Los Alamos
technologies to industry and start-up companies. As the Laboratory's liaison with industry, the office
also manages Lab-industry research partnerships and serves as the Laboratory's resource on
industry relations.

The Technology Transfer Support Group (TTSG) partners with the Air Force Research Laboratory -
Phillips Research Site to facilitate the transfer of technology. TTSG transfers technology using
several defined mechanisms. In addition, TTSG provides activities and programs to help communities
relative to education outreach in New Mexico, as well as in other states where the Air Force has
a presence via contracts or facilities.

Sandia works closely with industry, small business, universities, and government agencies to
bring new technologies to the marketplace. Sandia has been transferring technology to external partners for
more than three decades, especially where such agreements benefit Sandia’s primary mission for
the Department of Energy.
