Navaho Dam. Courtesy of the New Mexico Tourism Department New Mexico provides many transportation options within its borders. Interstates 10, 25, and 40 pass through the state. Many state highways cross the state, including part of the historic Route 66.

Air travel in New Mexico is serviced primarily by Albuquerque International Sunport and Las Cruces International Airport. Additionally, Santa Fe Municipal Airport serves the Santa Fe area.

Commuter rail is provided by the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, which serves Albuquerque. An extension to Santa Fe is planned for completion by 2008. Amtrak serves New Mexico with its Southwest Chief route, which stretches from Los Angeles, California to Chicago, Illinois, stopping in the New Mexico cities of Gallup, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Lamy, and Raton. Additionally, Amtrak’s Sunset Limited trains stop in Deming and Lordsburg, New Mexico.

Albuquerque provides public transit with its ABQ RIDE service. Rapid Ride, part of ABQ RIDE, provides over 100,000 passenger rides per month with its fleet of 12 articulated buses.

Greyhound Lines, Inc. provides bus service to and from New Mexico.
